By removing the wall between the dining and kitchen we gained breathing room and lake views. We even moved windows to take advantage of the gorgeous lake view. Finishes include timeless colors. The texture, pattern and color of the new window treatments, bench cushion and pillows blend harmoniously for a polished finished space. Not pictured is the wall of full height pantry cabinets opposite the kitchen. The fresh look continues up the stairs and encompasses the entire second story of the home. Before there was only one bathroom for all the three bedrooms. The new concept turned the existing family bathroom into the primary bedroom’s private bath, incorporating an unused closet to make room for a new soaking tub with window above. The kitchen had no window and only a narrow opening into the small kitchen. The “after” turned out gorgeous and inviting. The new island is the biggest functional change that opened up the kitchen for better traffic flow and most importantly to this family, gave them table like seating for family dinner and playing games. We also flipped the formal living and dining spaces to create a private den and open up the occasionally used dining room. Make it stand out The ASID Design Home 2024 Pillsbury Castle laundry room, formerly a kitchenette from days when portions of the home served as a vacation rental, is transformed into a rich and functional space. Honoring the grandeur of the home’s original architecture, historic materials like quartzite counter and backsplash combine to embrace the homeowners’ style-forward design aesthetic. Ample storage solutions were incorporated into the cabinetry including hamper drawers, a pullout ironing board, and a pet feeding station ensuring the space stays organized. A bold saturated color, inspired by a surprise element of thin green veining in the natural stone countertop, breathes new life into the room without compromising its historical charm. The reinvented space not only streamlines the chore of doing laundry but also is a vibrant and beautiful extension of the home.
